Accessing MS Teams: To start using MS Teams, simply download the app or visit the web version at https://teams.microsoft.com. Sign in using your organization's email address and password.
Familiarize yourself with the interface: The MS Teams interface consists of three main sections - the sidebar, the main view, and the right panel. Spend a few minutes exploring each section to understand the layout and functionalities.
Turn on notifications: To stay informed about ongoing conversations, enable notifications for specific channels by clicking the three-dot menu next to the channel name and selecting 'Channel notifications'. Customize your notification preferences in your account settings.
Participate in conversations: To contribute to a discussion, click on the 'New conversation' button at the bottom of the main view, type your message, and hit Enter. To respond to an existing message, hover over the message and click on the 'Reply' button that appears.
Use @mentions: To get someone's attention or ensure they see your message, type '@' followed by their name in your message. They will receive a notification and can quickly navigate to the conversation.
Mention the entire team or channel: To notify everyone in a team or channel about an important message or announcement, type '@team' or '@channel' in your message. This will send a notification to all members, ensuring they are aware of the update.
Pin important messages: To make sure crucial information is easily accessible, you can pin important messages. Just hover over the message, click on the three-dot menu, and select 'Pin'. Pinned messages can be accessed by clicking on the channel info icon.
Share files: You can share files with your team by clicking on the 'Attach' button (paperclip icon) below the message box and uploading a file from your computer, OneDrive, or SharePoint.
Use emojis, GIFs, and stickers: To add some personality to your messages, click on the emoji, GIF, or sticker icons below the message box and select the one you'd like to include.
Utilize search functionality: To find specific messages, files, or conversations, use the search bar at the top of the MS Teams interface. You can also filter search results by people, channels, and files.
Email notifications: MS Teams sends email notifications when you are idle or not actively using the app, ensuring you don't miss important updates. To customize email notification settings, click on your profile picture, select 'Settings', and then click on 'Notifications'. Scroll down to 'Missed activity emails' and choose the desired frequency.
